Reinhard Delali Amo is studying for a Master's in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Yokohama National University. His research looks at bringing large amounts of renewable energy into the power grids of sub-Saharan Africa, with a focus on Ghana: how the grid will behave as these new sources come online, and what nuclear energy could offer the country.
He joined GSU-Japan in 2026 through an online welcome and orientation for new students, but arrived about thirty minutes after it had ended. The leaders still on the call stayed to talk with him, got to know him and shared their plans for GSU. That welcome convinced him to take part.
Reinhard had also found it hard, at first, to meet other Ghanaian students in Japan, which showed him why a community like GSU-Japan matters. At the 10th Anniversary Symposium he served on the organizing team and presented his research.
