Ghana Tour Showcase

Overview
The Ghana Tour Showcase brought the Ghanaian, Japanese and wider international community together on 19 April 2026 at the Institute of Science Tokyo, Yushima Campus. It was a collaboration between GSU-Japan and the NGO Reaching Zero Dose Children (RZDC), with support from the Embassy of Ghana in Japan and JAfriQ Radio.
Background
In February 2026, four Japanese members of RZDC spent ten days in Ghana on their first trip to Africa, hosted by Dr. Floret Owusu, President of GSU-Japan. They visited Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, UNICEF and JICA, ran health education sessions in two junior high schools in Accra, and experienced Ghanaian history and culture.
Back in Japan they wanted to share what they had seen. Since no one tells Ghana's story better than Ghanaians themselves, GSU-Japan and RZDC created the Ghana Tour Showcase together.

Highlights & awards
The day had two parts: an Academic Expo led by RZDC and a Cultural Expo led by GSU-Japan.
Visitors discovered their Ghanaian day names, explored food and agriculture (shea butter, plantain and palm oil), enjoyed Ghanaian art and made their own photo props and souvenirs. A fashion station let guests try on traditional attire, and a hair braiding corner offered a hands-on experience.
The highlight was the Afrobeats and traditional dance session, where Ghanaians and friends from Japan danced together in a room full of energy and laughter.
