Eugenia Elikem Abena Kumaga

Eugenia Elikem Abena Kumaga is a PhD student in Medical Sciences at the University of Tsukuba. Her research explores ovarian biology and the role of immune cells in reproductive health.

She joined GSU-Japan when she arrived in Japan in 2024 and became more active this year. For the 10th Anniversary Symposium she helped prepare the programme and draft the schedule, served as one of the MCs, and helped with ushering. Taking part in both the preparation and the day itself, she says, let her contribute to a shared achievement and connect with Ghanaians from across Japan.

Outside GSU, Eugenia supports Japanese students and community members through English conversation and exchange activities.

She plans to complete her PhD, become an independent biomedical researcher, and strengthen links between Ghana and Japan through research, education and cultural exchange, while helping GSU-Japan remain a place where members feel supported.
