Marfoah Tenkorang is an ESL/EAL early years educator living and working in Japan, as well as a creative and an advocate for community building. She holds a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Politics, with a background in Chinese politics, and has lived and worked in both China and Japan. Education, the arts and cultural exchange are at the heart of her work.
Her connection to GSU-Japan came through our President, now a good friend, who invited her to a GSU event. At the Ghana Tour Showcase, she volunteered at the Arts and Crafts booth, and that first taste of the community led to more.
Since then she has supported GSU-Japan by sharing ideas, offering help and stepping in whenever possible, including on the organizing team of the 10th Anniversary Symposium. In her view, building a strong community does not always need grand gestures: small contributions can make a real difference.
Looking ahead, Marfoah hopes to keep growing as an educator and creative, and to support work that empowers young people, celebrates Ghanaian culture and strengthens connections among Ghanaians in Japan.
