Ramen, campus and the Itoshima coast: visiting our members in Fukuoka

The President and Organizing Secretary, with friends of GSU Samilia Allotey and Hyunseo Chu, spent time with our Kyushu University members: talking about how to contribute to Ghana, tasting Hakata ramen, touring the campus and taking in the coast at Itoshima.

GSU-Japan's President, Dr. Floret Maame Owusu, and Organizing Secretary, Samuel Papa Kwesi Owusu, visited our members at Kyushu University in Fukuoka. They were joined by two friends of GSU, Samilia Allotey and Hyunseo Chu. As a Kyushu University student himself, the Organizing Secretary hosted the visiting team.

Conversations about home

The visit was a chance to spend time with members Solomon Selasi Djre and Fred Temeng Okyere-Siaw of Kyushu University. Together, the group talked about how Ghanaian students in Japan can contribute to Ghana.

Hakata ramen and a walk around campus

No visit to Fukuoka is complete without its food. The team explored local dishes, including the city's famous Hakata ramen, and then headed to Kyushu University to explore the campus.

Itoshima by the sea

The trip continued to Itoshima, where the team enjoyed the beautiful coastal scenery. They were warmly hosted by Rie-san, a friendly local resident of Itoshima, whose kindness made the day special.

Visits like this are at the heart of GSU-Japan: staying connected with members wherever they study in Japan, and building friendships across communities.
